Watermelon Time, 2005
Oil on linen, 2' x 2'
August 20, 2004, Our summers in Maryland were filled with wonderfully delightful weekends with friends. The weekend of August 20th was spent with three of our close friends, Frank and Deborah and Sonia. Frank and Deborah were driving down the Garden State and taking the Cape May-Lewes Ferry to the Eastern shore of Maryland before arriving at our place on the western side of the Chesapeake. We met Sonia late that morning at the train station near BWI airport and returned home for a light lunch by the pool. Simple roll ups and ice cold watermelon were the fare. It was a time of relishing in the sweetness of friendships, catching up by remembering our connections.
