Happy Birthday Fred, 2007
Oil on linen, 2' x 2'
July 28, 2006, My birthday rolled around a couple of weeks after we moved into our Cape May house. I use the term 'moved' lightly because there were a number of our belongings still in our house in Maryland. In the moving process, we ran out of room in the truck we rented and the moving van we hired. We had spent two weeks unpacking boxes and settling into the house, making our best attempt to pull the house together as soon as possible so we would be ready for our annual Labor Day weekend soiree with our dear friends from Mississippi. By now the Jersey tomatoes were in and every roadside farm stand had bushels of large vine ripened tomatoes on display. Lunch was Caprese salad, tomato, and mozzarella topped with fresh basil and an olive oil and balsamic vinegarette dressing seasoned with salt, and pepper. We served it with warm homemade bread that we used to sop up the remaining dressing swimming on the plate. The lunch was topped off with a local peanut butter and chocolate birthday cake. Fred May
