Louie, 1991
Acrylic on canvas, 24” x 50”
For many years, Louis Kinsey was the dispatcher at the Grand Central subway station at the end of the Grand Central Shuttle. Every morning he greeted thousands of riders, always with a smile and kind word. In addition to announcing necessary information, he commented on the weather or some newsworthy item. When people were new to the station, they almost always found Louie to ask directions. He would not only answer their questions, but would send them on their way with a big smile and a kind word.
