Double Take (left), 2025
Watercolor on paper, 30" × 22"
In Double Take, two reef scenes mirror one another—one vibrant and full of life, the other faded, its fish rendered in ghostly silhouettes. The diptych holds presence and absence side by side, inviting a longer look at what we notice first, and what slowly recedes.
There’s a tension between beauty and warning here, between what is seen and what is suggested. As the series has evolved, I’ve come to value that space of ambiguity—the moment where clarity gives way to questioning.
