Eye to Eye, 2025

Oil on linen, 30" × 40"

Eye to Eye began with a brief but unforgettable encounter while I was swimming in Barbados. A green sea turtle rose from the ocean floor and swam directly toward me. As it moved past, it looked me straight in the eye, then continued upward to the surface for air before returning to its resting place below.

Eye to Eye reimagines that unexpected moment. It became a way to hold onto an encounter when two beings, from different worlds, were present. It reflects the quiet but powerful connections that can occur across species—moments when awareness moves both ways and reminds us that we share the same world.
